Darcha Padam Trek

Destinations: Manali - Darcha - Palamo - Rumjak - Lakhang via Shinkung la - Thable - Raru

Itinerary

Day 1 arrival

Arrival International airport Delhi India meet our member
transfer to Hotel after drive to Manali by car or fly to Buntar airport and drive 3hrs to Manali transfer to Hotel

Day 2

Rest and visit old Manali  and site seeing

Day 3

Manali to Darcha drive
After breakfast drive over Rothang pass 4200m, from the pass wander full view of the great Himalaya mountains drive down to Khoksar lunch over there after drive in rout see many village and small city of Kelong evening at Jispa tented camp or Hotel O/N

Day 4

Darcha to Palamo
From Jispa one hrs drive and start trek , fallow the road until village  Chaka Rari after village the road became narrow and Trekking trials Palamo is a small village the last village of the Darcha, the way is rocky  nice camp

Day 5

Palamo to Rumjak
From palamo to Zanskar sumdo 2hrs the path lads rocky and sandy cross the hanging bridge at Zanskar sumdo then go up one hrs steep ascent right side of the mountains inter into the valley Good paths after few hrs good camp side near the river.

Day 6

Rumjak to Lakhang  via Shinkung la 5100.
 from the camp climb moderate 4 hrs several
Easy stream crossing the path zig zag through the mountain side until the pass early June there are Allots of snow fallen rocky difficulty for the horses after 2hrs reach the first the meadow and go  Down towards a small plateau very nice camp good view of the Gonbo rangjon.

Day 7

Lakhang to Thable
 from the camp could river crossing ,after one hrs you can beneath the face of the gonbo rangjon,
Easy descent several small river crossing towards the Kargyak the right bank of the Kargyak shingo Village 21/ hrs reach Thably very nice camp near the village. (From Thably another trek goes to Sarchu via Phrtse la  its take)

Day 8

Thably to Purne
From the Thably continue along  right bank an easy path, two hrs before Tanze you can cross in A narrow gorge, Tanze is a small village a gompa up on the hill. short descent  beyond Tanze Ther is a small bridge and cross to left bank.and cross small beautiful village Kuru,Tita,Yal next A steep dscent towards a large bridge which you cross to get Purne nice camp between the two rivrOne fallow from Sarchu Tserap river and another from shingo.( Purne is a small village three or four houses they have shop it is very expensive and during the Night be very careful to stolen things,keep your things inside the tents.

Day 9

Purne to Phuktal back Purne.
Leave the camp and go up the right bank of the Tserap chu in to splendid gorge. After 1 ½ hrs cross A wooden bridge over Tserapchu bet climb suddenly you can see a chortan (Stupa) religious bannersAnd Phuktal monastery in front see Tserap river spectacular view of the Monastery inside the caveIs quite deep natural spring water coming inside the cave. The Monastery belongs to the tradition of The gelupas yellow sect 600 to 700 years old about 85 monks are resided hear it is founded by Gangsem sharap sangpo, and also Rangdum,Liker monastery. There is also a stone table left by the Hungarian Alexander Csoma de Koros, one of the first explorers of Tibet he spent here from1826 to 1827. It is possible to find food and lodgings at the Monastery.

Day 10

Purne to Tsetang or Pipula
From Purne back to bridge after crossing the bridge up to left side of the bank the tral over hang  The Tserap chu some times tricky and hard going frequent small canyons which leads to the Village Cha there is very old grass bridge not using anymore there is a new wooden bridge From here the path they are leads to Phuktal but dangerous for the horses (near the old bridge there rock Cravings which is about 2000 years old) one hrs later you arrive at Kaydang a small village there is A tea shop village of Surly. The trail is still not good, two houses at the Tsetang small camp but Nice after one hrs to Pipula camp near the river there is also a tea shop.

Day 11

Pipula to Raru or Mune
Continue left side of the bank, some time up and some times down along the river before camp a A  bridge1/2 hrs ascent to the village Raru camp near the small lake up the village.One hrs to Mune, the quite beautiful plain cover with flowers, possible to camp opposite of the  Monastery a small tea shop belongs from Monastery evening visit Monastery its small but very nice.

Day 12

Raru to Padum
From Raru a new dusty motor road suitable for walk leads to Padum after two hrs on the way visit Bardan Monastery on the top of the hill Dukpa sect some beautiful village on the other side of the River Padum is 3650m high camp near the tourist office, there are some Hotels and Guest houses and restaurants shops..  

If you continue to go another trek you can ask the agency, will arrange another 8 days trek to Lamayuru. Padum is block head quitter. From Padum you can take Bus or Taxi to Kargil and to Leh or Kashmir.

Day 13

Padum to Rangdum
Drive to Rangdum over Pantse la 4450m O/N tented camp or our own camp, evening visit Rangdum monastery and around wonderful view of the great Himalaya also view of Nun and kun peak range 

Day 14

Rangdum to Leh drive
After breakfast drive in rout visit Kargil village and city O/N Hotel

Day 15

Rest and visit Leh after lunch visit surrounding 

Day 16

Monastery excursion
After lunch visit Monastery Shey, Thiksy , Hemis, Thakthok,  

Day 17

After breakfast transfer to airport and fly to Delhi, transfer to Hotel, after lunch visit old Delhi evening transfer to international airport and fly to your Home.
